Getting started

What's a profile?

A profile is a separate space for one part of your life, such as Home, My Collection, My Shop or Workshop. Each has its own items, places, colour, wording and features, and nothing is mixed between them. Tap the round profile button at the top left of any main screen to switch, or touch and hold it to switch quickly.

Where are Settings?

Tap your profile button at the top left, then the gear. Settings has iCloud, Export, Recently Deleted, the Face ID lock and the app icon. Each profile's own settings (name, colour, features, wording, item types and sharing) are under the ⓘ next to it.

Can I change what a template set up?

Yes, everything. In a profile's settings you can turn features on or off, rename things (Rooms or Warehouses, Collection or Inventory), and add item types and your own fields.

Adding things

A barcode says “No match found”.

Not every product is in the public catalogues Catanook uses. Tap Add Manually: the code is filled in for you, and next time you scan it, Catanook will find your item.

If it says Couldn't Look This Up, the catalogues couldn't be reached. Check your connection and tap Try Again.

The scanner says camera access is off.

Tap Open Settings on that screen and turn on Camera for Catanook. You can also type or paste a code instead.

How do QR labels work?

Open a place (or an item) and tap Print Label, then print it or share the image. Scanning the label with the iPhone camera, or in Catanook's Add screen, opens that place and shows what's inside.

iCloud sync and sharing

My changes aren't showing on my other device.

Check that both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud turned on for Catanook (Settings › [your name] › iCloud), then open Settings › iCloud in Catanook. It shows whether sync is up to date and how many changes are waiting to upload; Sync Now checks straight away. Changes made offline are kept and sent when you're back online.

How do I share a profile with family or my team?

Open the profile's settings (the ⓘ in the profile list) and tap Share with Family or Invite Team Members. Choose who can make changes and who can only view. Only that profile is shared, never the rest of your catalogue.

I see “View only” at the top of a shared profile.

The owner shared it with you as view-only, so you can browse but not change it. Ask them to give you edit access in their sharing settings.

Settings says a profile was “Removed from iCloud”.

Its iCloud data was deleted, for example under Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage. Catanook kept everything on your device and stopped syncing it. Tap Upload Again to put it back in iCloud for your other devices, or leave it to keep the profile on this device only.

Sync says “Paused” after I changed iCloud accounts.

Catanook never moves one person's data into another person's iCloud on its own. If you want this device's data in the new account, tap Use Catanook with This iCloud Account in Settings › iCloud.

Your data

How do I export my data?

Settings › Export. Choose a spreadsheet (CSV) for one profile, or Export Everything for a ZIP with every profile, all your photos at full size and a complete copy of your data. Export is free on every plan.

I deleted something by mistake.

Right after deleting, tap Undo. Later, open Settings › Recently Deleted: everything you delete stays there for 30 days, and you can restore it with one tap.

How do I lock Catanook with Face ID?

Settings › Privacy & Security › Require Face ID. Catanook then locks whenever you leave it, and shows a cover in the app switcher.

Does Catanook work with VoiceOver and larger text?

Yes. Catanook supports VoiceOver, Voice Control, Dynamic Type up to the largest accessibility sizes, Reduce Motion and Increase Contrast. If anything is hard to use, please tell us. We treat accessibility problems as bugs.
